Poetry is an expression of a person’s imagination and creativity. Like any other literary work, it requires understanding to be truly appreciated. Every poet writes with a purpose—whether to evoke emotions, inform, define, or reflect aspects of life and the world. Each poem is unique to its creator, and through analysis, its depth and meaning can be fully appreciated.

A Teenager"s Prayer

Change our lifestyle, give space to passion, follow our dreams, think positively, take risks, speak to strangers, do what you like to do, push yourselves out of your comfort zone, and live life to the fullest. The Poet says to do all the things that change your life otherwise you will lose hope of a happy future.

Poet says to do all the things that change your life otherwise you will lose hope of a happy future.

The poet is sharing his experiences that he had faced because of his twin brother John. How the people, relatives, teachers, and neighbours were confused because of their same to same look is shown in humorous way in this poem.

  2. Theme or central idea: This poem is a piece of advice given by the father to his son. He teaches his son life lessons such as the importance of time, importance of honesty, importance of patience and hard work, and how to live a balanced life. In short, the father expects his son would follow his instructions and become a perfect human being.

Stopping By Woods On A Snowy Evening

  5. Theme or central idea – The central idea of this poem is we must be thankful about what we have. Instead of complaining about the things that we don’t have. If we focus on what is lacking in our life, we will miss the real happiness of the life. The speaker gives examples of a lame girl, a deaf boy and a blind boy. And describes beautifully how they are happy with what they have.

O Captain ! My Captain !

  5. Theme or central idea – This poem expresses a lament (grief) on the death of American President, Abraham Lincoln. He led America and won the Civil War. While people were very happy, enjoying peace, and celebrating victory, the captain, Abraham Lincoln was shot dead. The poet memorizes Abraham Lincoln through this poem.
